“Business and brand go hand in hand - what you promise, you must deliver.
Metro set out to ‘change the way Britain banks’. Yet, following the damage of this accounting error to its share value as well as its brand reputation, it would appear Metro first needs to change the way it banks.
Metro is as much in the business of accountability, as it is bank accounts – in this context, the board room and bank branch are one and the same.
With reputation painstakingly built over decades, and yet, lost in the time it takes to punch in a 4-digit PIN, let’s hope Vernon Hill’s replacement will deliver on the change Metro originally promised.”
