Is Help to Buy running out of steam?
The latest Help to Buy data will not make pleasant reading for a Government keen to turn generation rent into generation buy. Whilst Help to Buy helped more homebuyers in the last quarter of 2021 than it did in the third quarter, the number of homebuyers helped and the number of first-time buyers helped remains significantly below pre-pandemic levels. With Help to Buy due to close in April 2023, is it running out of steam? Even with a big push from hereon in, there is too much ground to make up to deliver on the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities homeownership aims. We believe a new policy is required and that policy is fractional homeownership
