press-release-of-day

26th February 2019

London's first wonky fruit and veg subscription box, Oddbox, are now delivering Wonky Rescued Fruit Baskets to offices across the capital, in an effort to tackle food waste, keep workers healthy, happy and help them do their bit for the environment.

Oddbox are the only fruit delivery service in London that offers delicious, fresh, but slightly less than perfect produce to offices, so for businesses who want to be more socially responsible they are the perfect solution.

The brand will also be launching a quarterly CSR report for companies who sign up, so they can share how much water and CO2 emissions they saved as a team through choosing Oddbox.

About Oddbox

The Oddbox team are a social enterprise that fights food waste at farm level, working directly with farmers to rescue ‘ugly' but just as delicious produce and deliver it straight to London’s homes and offices, for 30% cheaper than similar services.

These are the fruit and vegetables that don’t make the strict supermarket requirements on shape (misshapen), size (too big or small), colour (not enough of) and markings (due to nature).

A shocking 20-40% of produce in the UK is wasted before it even leaves the farms, meaning a lot of unnecessary waste for the planet, a raw-deal for producers and a world of missed opportunities for people like us to eat.

PR of the day 26.02.19

Founders Deepak and Emilie were inspired to start Oddbox after seeing a food market in Portugal filled with wonky fruit and veg. It looked weird and kind of ugly, but it tasted delicious.

This got them thinking about why we only see the same perfectly shaped fruit and veg on our supermarket shelves. Why was there no variety? And what happened to all that produce that didn’t qualify in the supermarket beauty stakes?

Determined to battle food waste and give ugly, wonky veg a better, more beautiful future, they visited farms, talked to producers and came up with the idea for Oddbox, delivering delicious misshapen and surplus produce straight to London's homes and offices.
