Celebrating season 9 of Doc Martin - a guide to where to eat, stay and drink in the the fictional seaside village of Portwenn (AKA Port Isaac)

In light of Doc Martin returning to our TV screens next week (Wednesday 25th September to be precise), we wanted to share with you some insider tips for where to eat, drink and stay in the much-loved seaside village of Port Isaac (or Portwenn as it’s known in the show).

The hotspot

There’s a new chef in town and Andrew Sheridan Head Chef (Great British Menu star) is causing quite the stir with his Michelin star worthy food. The Stargazy Inn also boasts nine stylish bedrooms and stunning sea views, the perfect place to reside after one of Andrew’s tasting menus. https://stargazyinn.co.uk/

Drink

Pop into the award-winning Port Gaverne for a pint, a true Port Isaac institution and a favourite of Doc Martin.  https://portgavernehotel.co.uk/

Brunch

Head to Pilchards at Port Gaverne, a beachside café nestled into a breathtakingly beautiful beach cove. At high tide, the sea’s only a few yards away from the tables on the front decking. Offering a daily-changing menu showcasing the finest Cornish produce, the café is the perfect place to while away the afternoon tucking into a selection of mouth-watering small plates.  https://portgavernehotel.co.uk/restaurant/pilchards-cafe/

Take in the sights

Walk off Port Isaac’s culinary offerings and book onto a walk & talk guided tour. Port Isaac’s tours will take you around the hidden paths of the village of Port Isaac (Portwenn) taking in Doc Martin locations, historical buildings, fishing, past and present. http://www.portisaactours.com/
