Easy-to-make cocktails at home for virtual meet-ups
As official guidelines have required that everyone distance themselves from one another physically, we’re increasingly turning to digital platforms as a way to keep virtual ties with loved ones.
Apps such as Skype, Zoom and Houseparty are enabling us to link-up with friends and family close to home and aboard. To keep their spirits high, optimistic Italians have initiated the ‘Apericall’, a 7pm virtual meet-up with friends where you enjoy a drink – with or without alcohol – and more importantly, share news, updates and support one another.
As we’ve also retreated in our homes, these digital rendez-vous are becoming the new normal for the next few weeks at least. So we’ve rounded-up six easy-to-make cocktail recipes that can easily be replicated at home and don’t require too many ingredients. We connecting in this will bring some light relief for the days to come – keep safe.
The Negroni a firm favourite across the world, this tasty cocktail requires gin, sweet vermouth and campari and can be built in a glass.
The G&T - one of the most popular and easiest long drink to make at home – for a flavourful twist swap your classic tonic for grapefruit soda.

The Spritz – the iconic ‘aperitivo’ cocktail that’s colourful, light and refreshing and brimming with flavours - a must have for any drinks enthusiast. 

The highball – a style of cocktail that is delicious which is also ideal for any dark spirits lover. From whisky, to rum or cognac, pick your favourite spirit and top it up with ginger ale or soda for a speedy and super tasty drink.

The Negroni
Ice cubes
Method: Add all of the ingredients into a stirring glass, add an ample amount of ice cubes and stir for about 30 seconds. Strain, leaving the ice in the stirring glass, and pour over a glass filled with ice cubes.
The G&G
40ml Canaïma Gin
150ml Grapefruit Soda
2 Lime Wedges Squeezed
Ice cube

Method: This is a built drink, simply add 3 ingredients into the glass with ice, pull the ingredients up through the full glass with a bar-spoon, add more ice if required, then garnish with a line wedge

Cocchi Rosa Spritz
60ml      Cocchi Rosa
100ml Tonic Water
3 strawberries, halved in the glass
Garnish: basil sprig
Glass: wine glass
Method: Pour 50ml Cocchi Rosa in a wine glass filled with ice. Top up with 100ml light tonic water, add the halved strawberries and stir well. Garnish with a sprig of fresh basil.
The Dark Storm Highball

50ml Diplomatico Mantuano
15ml Lime juice
3 dashes Angostura Bitters
Top up with Ginger Beer

Method: Pour rum into a highball glass, add ice and the lime juice and top up with ginger beer. Add bitters as a float and garnish with Lime wedge.

Nikka Highball
100 ml of soda
Method: Build in highball glass. Fill the glass with ice, add whisky and gently stir. Serve
The Hine Ball
60 ml H by Hine
240 ml ginger ale
5 ice cubes
Method: Build in glass and garnish with fresh ginger slice and orange peel
