Stranger Things: expert reveals 80s TikTok hair trends that are making a huge comeback
Searches for 80s perms are up 8600%
The release of the latest season of Netflix’s Stranger Things and pop culture references have seen 80s style and fashion have a resurgence.
Hair experts, CLOUD NINE have analysed which 80s TikTok hair trends users in the UK are searching for online to switch up their style.
TikTok is notorious for being one of the most influential social media platforms - so which 80s hair trends are going to be making a comeback this summer?

In first place with a whopping 6.5 billion TikTok views is the Mullet. This classic 80s hairstyle has been rocked by Miley Cyrus, Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock and more recently by Millie Bobby Brown’s character in the latest series of Stranger Things. Over 36,000 people in the UK have searched for this style in the last month, making it a go to look for this summer!
In a close second is the famed 80s perm with 1.2 billion views of the hashtag on TikTok. Users are keen to see more of the look with google searches increasing by an incredible 8600% in the last week.
It’s difficult to browse social media without seeing a tutorial on how to use this hit 80s accessory, so it’s no surprise that claw clips are in third place with 974.5 million views of the hashtag on TikTok. Claw clips are a big hit right now within the trend of the ‘clean girl aesthetic’ with 10,000 Google searches being made in the past month.
Last but not least is the Asymmetrical Cut with just under 8,000 views on TikTok. This fashion forward style is set to make a major comeback with Google searches already increasing by 9300% in the last week alone!
