- Two new resorts opening – Tignes and Serre Chevalier
- New café in Tignes specialising in vegan, vegetarian and gluten free food and partnered with socially and environmentally-friendly Italian coffee brand – first in France
- Particular focus on snowboard instruction in Tignes
- Strong focus on family lessons and ski touring in Serre Chevalier
- Both schools are managed by Oxygene instructors formerly based in Val d’Isère
French Alps based ski school Oxygene that specialises in English speaking ski and snowboard lessons, has launched two new resorts for this winter – Tignes and Serre Chevalier.
The school has also opened a brand new café in Tignes, Oxygène Café, run by instructors Federico Luzuy and Beatrice Davico, partnered with Caffè Vergnano, a socially and environmentally-friendly Italian brand that supports coffee projects run by women, helping them to be economically independent.
Tignes has a particular focus on snowboarding lessons (Federico is exclusively qualified as a snowboard teacher), offering group snowboard lessons for children from 5 years old (most ski schools start at 8) and the possibility of private snowboard lessons for children as young as 3 years old thanks to the use of the Burton Riglet* and Handlebar set up.
The southern French Alps resort of Serre Chevalier is another new opening for Oxygene and instructors Adrien and Charlotte Paupe are offering the chance for pupils to discover the vast off-piste terrain available with ski touring lessons for all levels.
Julien Favre, Oxygene Director, said: “The two new resorts of Tignes and Serre Chevalier means that we now offer 14 destinations across the French Alps, all with our unique teaching style and passionate English speaking instructors. Our new café in Tignes has opened already and we’re proud to be the first associated café in France partnered with ethical coffee brand, Caffè Vergnano. Both teams of instructors have come from the Oxygene family, out of Val d’Isère, and are now taking our brand to new resorts popular with British guests. We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back this winter”.

About Oxygene:
- Oxygene celebrates its 30th birthday in 2022
- Exhibiting at The National Snow Show, NEC, October 23-34
- Strong focus on instruction for British and Irish guests across the French Alps
In 1992 two brothers, Bertrand and Pierre de Monvallier, established Oxygene ski & snowboard school in the French resort of La Plagne, hugely popular with British skiers and snowboarders. This was soon followed by ski equipment hire and in 1997, the company expanded to Val d’Isère. In the year 2000, an adaptive program was introduced that subsequently has become a hugely important part of the overall offering. In 2016, Oxygene acquires 3 Valley s ski school Magic in Motion and starts to expand its destinations that today include 14 resorts in the French Alps.
About Tignes
Federico Luzuy and Beatrice Davico, both Oxygene instructors from the Oxygene Val d’Isère team, know Tignes and the people well having lived and worked in the area. Their ambition was to open their own ski school, with a café, in neighbouring Tignes. A dream that has become reality in 2021.
The resort
Tignes is a large, high altitude resort located at the end of the Tarentaise Valley (3,456m at its highest peak). It boasts a fantastic snow record across its 300kms of groomed slopes and wide-ranging back-country, linked to neighbouring Val d’Isère. In winter, Tignes is a melting-pot of nationalities, ages, skiers, snowboarders and off-piste enthusiasts. The resort is made up of 5 villages – Val Claret (2,300m), Le Lac (2,100m), Le Lavachet (2,000m), Les Boisses (1,800m) and Les Brevières (1,550m). A free resort shuttle bus running late into the night makes it easy to get around.

About Serre Chevalier
Launching Oxygene Serre Chevalier was the ambition of two Val d’Isère instructors, Adrien (originally from Paris but with a family holiday home in the resort) and Charlotte Paupe (a local of the town). Adrien spent season 2020-21 ski touring every day in the area and there’s a comprehensive program to offer ski touring and backcountry skiing in the resort. The resort
Serre Chevalier is located on the border of Italy, between Col du Lautaret and Briançon. It is the largest winter sports resort in the Southern Alps due to the size of its ski area and its number of visitors. The Serre Chevalier Valley is 27kms long and includes the city of Briançon, whose Vauban fortifications are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as 3 flagship villages: Chantemerle, Villeneuve and le Monêtier les Bains. The resort is also located inside the stunning Ecrins National Park.
