Kids’ bedtime battle drives parents to drink, study shows

Children’s bedtime routine drives parents to drink, a survey has found.

Parents are tempted to hit the booze as they battle to get their kids to sleep, the study by alcohol-free wine specialists Eisberg showed.

Many Brits admit that bathtime (6%) and bedtime (3%) are moments that tempt you to reach for a glass of wine or bottle of beer.

Respondents also revealed boozy temptations come into play when their kids have gone to bed (9%).

It comes as more than a third of Brits are trying to cut down their mid-week drinking.

Almost one in three of the 1,500 respondents said they are trying to slash their alcohol intake to get summer holiday ready.

Dan Harwood, Eisberg’s Key Account Manager for UK and Ireland, said “Children’s bedtime routine can be really stressful so it’s not surprising parents think of ways to relax when their kids are asleep.

“Eisberg is a great booze-free alternative and starts life as any other fresh and fruity wine.

“The alcohol is gently removed whilst keeping the great flavour of the wines you know and love.

“The result is a crisp, alcohol-free wine that is under 33 calories per 125ml glass, perfect for those who want the premium taste of wine, without it having a negative impact on their waistlines.”

Family arguments (7%), relaxing on the sofa (48%) and the end of the working day (32%) are also triggers for alcohol thoughts, the survey showed.

Londoners are most likely to think of an alcoholic drink during bathtime, with 21% admitting the ritual with the kids causes them to think about hitting the bottle.
