The Womenswear Pre-Fall 2020 and Menswear Fall Winter 2020 collections come to life in a personal portfolio photographed by Australian photographer Stef Mitchell. Invited by Paco Rabanne to execute a 360° vision beyond photography to casting and locations, Mitchell unlocks a sensual perspective on modern youth, deconstructing both intimacy and gender with her contemporary female gaze. Through both individual and group portraits, Mitchell highlights the season’s themes interspersed across women’s and menswear – from slim tailoring and bold chain jewellery to retro-futurist tees, ornate ‘palampore’ florals, and glittering metallics.

From scenes of domestic intimacy to the freedom of outdoor escape, Mitchell’s photographs see summer’s final moments fade into the soft light of fall with a mood of casual contemplation and time suspended. Decorative textures and graphic lines punctuate unadorned rooms and vast expanses of sky; in airy lofts, across fields and city rooftops, Mitchell’s characters inhabit a cinematic no-man’s land – their innate beauty and rakish allure the clear focus in each raw frame. Hardware glints and sparkles on skin and a sense of ambient realism pervades, as each photograph diffuses the totemic power of Paco embellishment with a subtle élan. Relaxing into a new familiarity, gender remains transient and unquestioned. With crystalline intention, Mitchell expresses the attitude of Paco Rabanne today: in movement and off-duty.
