LUXURY UNLOCKED AT THE BODMIN JAIL HOTEL IN CORNWALL
BRAND-NEW HOTEL FOR 2021
A brand-new luxury hotel with an incredible 160-year history is set to open in Cornwall in February 2021 – and reservations are now available.
Sensitively restored and painstakingly preserved, The Bodmin Jail Hotel has been transformed from the walls of an 18th century prison into a 4-star boutique hotel and is the showpiece of a £50 million project.
Perfectly positioned in the heart of Cornwall, just moments from both coasts, the unique destination hotel seamlessly blends old and new and gives Cornish heritage a luxurious twist. The 70 bedrooms – each with their own unique story to tell - have been created by combining three former cells and retain many authentic features. Behind original cell doors, guests will discover free-standing baths, walk-in showers and indulgent bedding, all set to the backdrop of weathered stone walls.
The new hotel will also be home to The Chapel Restaurant where gothic elegance combines with a unique sense of history to offer an exquisite dining experience. The Jolly Hangman Tavern will be a relaxed affair with light bites, hand-made pastries and speciality coffees, while The Chapel Bar - once the Governor’s Office - complete with 100+ varieties of gin, offers the perfect spot for a pre-dinner tipple or a late-night cocktail.
With a dedicated space for up to 300 people, The Bodmin Jail Hotel will also offer the biggest wedding, conference, meetings and events venue in Cornwall.
With 90% of the former jail, which was built in 1856 but dates back to 1774, now in the hotel building and grounds, guests can join a tour to delve into the jail’s unique heritage and learn about its significance to Cornish history.
Rajesh Joshi, Resort CEO for The Bodmin Jail Hotel, comments: “Steeped in romance, mystery and history, The Bodmin Jail Hotel is a new type of luxury. There is nowhere else quite like it.
“A celebration of Cornwall’s past and a sumptuous destination for couples, families and friends, this is a Cornish holiday reimagined – a chance to be inspired, relax and soak up the culture.”
In July 2021 a 75-pod glamping site and an onsite spa, featuring a swimming pool, sauna and hot tubs, will further enhance the luxury offering. To complement the leisure facilities, a Hospitality Academy to train tourism professionals of the future and support Cornwall’s tourism industry is also in the pipeline.
Room rates start from £130 (subject to availability). For more information visit www.bodminjailhotel.com
