Gorilla Trekking In Uganda Just Got More Affordable In 2021

-          Uganda Wildlife Authority will be running an extra special discount on all gorilla tracking permits

-          A&K are offering further discounts on trips to coincide with the news alongside booking with confidence*

London, December 2020. News released this week that the Ugandan Wildlife Authority will be running an extra special price discount on all gorilla tracking permits has made tracking a mountain gorilla even more appealing.

Foreign non-resident gorilla tracking permits have been reduced from USD 700 to USD 400. The discounted permits will only apply to new purchases for gorilla tracking between 1st December 2020 and 31st March 2021.

In 1985, Geoffrey Kent convinced General Museveni (the then future president of Uganda) to set aside the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest as a national park, on the condition that he build a luxury camp and bring in clients; Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp was born, alongside a life changing A&K Philanthropy Project.

A&K Philanthropy in Uganda

A shortage of nurses has had a serious effect on the impact of the Bwindi Community Hospital, a facility that literally began under a tree a decade ago and, with the help of AKP and the Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp, has grown to a 112-bed facility providing health care for 40,000 patients annually.  A&K Philanthropy is working hard to remember those less fortunate, in particular during the covid19 pandemic. They have been working with Cure Cervical Cancer to deliver equipment and training to Bwindi Community Hospital in Uganda. Cervical cancer is a leading cause of death, especially for rural women. The training helps frontline doctors and nurses conduct screenings, which has a dramatic impact on reducing mortality rates.

About Sanctuary Gorilla Forest Camp

Located deep in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest in western Uganda, this intimate lodge offers luxury in the midst of one of Africa's most amazing natural environments. A UNESCO World Heritage site, Bwindi is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth including 113 species of mammals (including a herd of the rare forest elephant), 200 species of butterfly and over 360 species of birds. In addition, Bwindi is home to seven species of primates of which the most endangered is the elusive mountain gorilla. Only 700 of these magnificent animals remain worldwide and Bwindi is home to just over half of them.

Experienced guides will accompany you on your gorilla trekking where a maximum of eight visitors are allowed to each gorilla family group. Tracking can take anything between half an hour and up to nine hours dependent on the family you are visiting. You will also be trekking at altitudes of 5200 feet, so a good level of fitness is required. Designed to blend seamlessly with the environment, eight spacious double tents raised off the ground on wooden platforms benefit from new en suite facilities that look out onto the surrounding vegetation. Each tent has a spacious wooden veranda where you can relax, enjoy a private meal or simply absorb the breath-taking scenery of the surrounding rainforest.

Save up to £500 per person when travelling to Sanctuary Retreats in Africa with A&K throughout 2021. Book by December 31.
