Love Island runner-ups have longer-lasting relationships and higher financial gain compared to series winners, new study finds! 🏝
 
New research from Hey Discount has looked at Love Island finalists from all 8 seasons and analysed whether they’re still in their villa relationships and looked into their Instagram earnings to reveal which LI finalist position leads to a lasting relationship and more financial gain.
 
The study revealed 62.5% of finalists who finished as runners-up are still together:
 
πŸ’› Molly-Mae Hague & Tommy Fury 
Runners up of season 5, Molly-Mae and Tommy have a combined Instagram following of 10.6 million and combined Instagram earnings of Β£105,862! Molly-Mae is one the most successful islander to come out of the villa, with her own PLT range and her own self-tanning collection, Filter by Molly-Mae.
 
πŸ’› Olivia Buckland & Alex Bowen 
Runners-up of season 2 Olivia and Alex, now married with a baby (!), have a combined Instagram following of 4.6 million, while their combined Instagram earnings total Β£46,494! The pair recently welcomed their first child Abel into the world in June of this year. The pair also filmed their own realty spin-off show back in 2019, and have a successful joint business, Exempt Society. 
 
πŸ’› Chloe Burrows & Toby Aromolaran 
Chloe and Toby had one of the most entertaining Love Island journeys. Our season 7 runners-up have a combined Instagram following of 2.5 million, and a combined Instagram earning total of Β£25,092. Chloe became the first ever JD Women ambassador back in October, and earns  Β£15,826 per Instagram post. Toby has recently started his own podcast, Fancy a Chat?
 
πŸ’› Camilla Thurlow & Jamie Jewitt
Camilla and Jamie, runners-up of Love Island season 3 currently have a combined Instagram following of 2.3 million and a combined total Instagram earning of Β£23,370! The pair, now married, recently welcomed their second daughter into the world five years after appearing on the show and are known for their shared love of humanitarianism. 
 
πŸ’› Gemma Owen & Luca Bish 
Having spent only 2 days (so far) outside of the villa, this year’s runners-up Gemma and Luca already have a combined Instagram following of 2.4 million and are predicted to make a combined total of Β£21,566 per Instagram post! Gemma is expected to earn around Β£12.4K per post, while Luca is expected to earn around Β£9K per post.

Our season 6 winners Paige and Finn currently have a combined total Instagram following of 2.9 million, with a combined Β£29,028 total amount of earnings. The pair won the show back in 2020 and have recently hit a milestone by moving in together. 
 
πŸ’š Cara De La Hoyde & Nathan Massey
Our season 2 winners who are now a happily married family of four, currently have a combined Instagram following of 1.8 million, earning a combined total of Β£18,540 per post. Despite a brief breakup in April 2017, the pair reunited ahead of the birth of their first son, Freddie who was born in December last year.

Our 2022 winners of Love Island have taken the series by storm this summer, winning the public vote by a landslide 63.7%! Appearing on the most watched season of Love Island, ever (!) the pair finished the season with a combined Instagram following of 3.2 million with Ekin-Su already expected to earn around Β£17K per post and Davide expected to earn around Β£10K per post.
 
The research also found that of the finalists who finished in third place, only 25% of couples are still together, and of those who finished in fourth place only 12.5% are still together
